Theme

This is the wireframe for a specific page type. Generally, a site has two themes: home and interior.

  • Main navigation
  • Page
  • Pagesets and other information (Ex. breadcrumbs)

DO NOT PUT COMMENTS IN THE THEME. THIS WILL BREAK YOUR SITE.

  • For example: <!-- This is a comment -->

Main Navigation

This menu is the first element in the theme, and it exists outside of the page.

  • Can be displayed horizontally or vertically
  • Can be moved with JavaScript in special cases

Note: It is bad practice to move main functional elements using JavaScript.

Page

Pages are made up of rows (Section Containers) and columns (Defined Portlet Areas). The page layout is determined by HTML created by the site's developer.

Pagesets (Static Portlet Areas)

These unique portlet areas are hard-coded into the theme and display on every page using that specific theme.

  • Not accessible by the client
  • No drag and drop capabilities
  • For now we are limited to 3 pagesets.
    • Main Menu
    • Side Navigation
    • Free Slot

A good example of when to use a pageset would be if you'd like a set of callout buttons to display on every interior page. (See example site here)
